Anniversary Note

Dear Reader,

Lockdown in 2020 was a new experience for all of us. Bolted up in our homes, cleaning and washing, and all movement outside curtailed all of a sudden set our minds more in action for sure. Discovering the length and breadth of each day slowly led to a lot of learning, introspection and to reinventing ourselves.

That process set me off to writing my first book, a fiction titled “A Ride with the River Man” which was published by Notion Press on 11th December 2020. Thereafter came my second book and the sequel to the first one, titled “The Secret Trove” published in December 2021.

The two books, “A Ride with the River Man” and its sequel “The Secret Trove” are a story of love, relationships and harmony.

Each one of us is on a constant mission to discover the better version of ourselves, as a human. Our circumstances put us to test always and our choices and responses to them are only the results of our core strengths.

The “River man” story explores the freedom and potential of an unselfish mind, its power to come up with positive responses to any situation, and how the presence of one selfless person impacts the lives of all those around, the peace and harmony that comes with it.

Needless to say, books, especially stories have the unique power to shape our thoughts and lift our moods while taking us through an experience of an alternate reality.

As an avid listener of stories from the Hindu scriptures from an early age, those long hours  I sat through the discourses of my Guru, in rapt attention, always left me in a more peaceful and positive frame of mind. The values and virtues of the kings, and the saintly humans depicted in the stories, though hard to emulate, were still overwhelming, thought-provoking and most of all, soothing!

“A Ride with the River Man” and “The Secret Trove”  were inspired by these stories and are a humble attempt to give a similar experience to the readers within a fictional framework and a contemporary setting.

Loaded with a high spiritual quotient and cultural values, every character and event in the books, “A Ride with the River Man” and “The Secret Trove”, has been chiselled with care to ensure a positive vibe is maintained all through.

Looking back, it is only fair to say that writing the books which started as a mere pursuit of passion ended up as therapy for me. I only hope it impacts the readers as much and turns out to be a soothing, feel-good read worth their time.

Warm Regards

S Pavithra Ram
